URBAN PUBLIC SPACE BANGALORE

Urban public space . MG road, Bangalore. Published in Indian Architect & Builder 2000. The lack of a museum of contemporary arts & public gallery space was a driving focus of this proposal. It was planned with the then elevated light rail in mind, incorporating the station as part of the museum plaza along with a mall. The present namma Bangalore metro is slated to have a station on MG road & hence this proposal still holds good today. The proposal assumes the elevated stretch of land abutting parade ground along MG road, from the EGK building to the Shrungar Shopping Complex. The project was selected to be featured in the first TAG calendar (the architectural gallery & bookshop calendar, Bangalore). The proposal was put forward in 1999, way ahead of its time in visioning Bangalore’s public space need. LANDSCAPE URBANISM
