DKA favours the free plan grounded in classical ideals of scale and proportion. The spaces within the 'free plan' overlap and are further defined through the careful placement and clear expression of walls and ceiling planes that intersect or slide by each other. Compositionally, these walls propagate from multiple 'centres' within the free flowing spaces. The references to these 'centres' implied within the open concept planning are re-inforced when the spaces are sequentially and hierarchially through choreographed processions that often recentres and realigns the perceptual 'axis' that terminates in objects, landscaped vistas or open spaces.
We start with the careful consideration of program and site. We sketch and study the surroundings and come up with options to challenge the program. We present our clients their vision and listen to their ideas, before we propose a solution.
